Professional Goals

Build My Network

In order to be successful in the mental health field, I believe creating a network, or community, is of great importance. Having a network of mental health providers, specifically Marriage and Family Therapists, will help me grow as a professional in many ways. These will be people I can turn to for advice, suggestions on possible trainings, referrals, and gaining new insights on different methods of therapy.

Continuous Learning

I believe in any profession you must continuously learn new things in order to truly be successful. The world is constantly changing, and if we do not change with it, we may be left behind. Particularly in the field of mental health, we are learning new things about how people work every day. I look forward to attending classes, trainings and courses that will open up new opportunities and methods of connecting with my future clients. I strive to never stop learning.

Create A Successful Practice

When I think of my future, I envision working in an environment where I am responsible for making the majority of the decisions based on what is best for my clients. I believe the way to ensure this happens is by working in my own private practice. While I know it will be challenging, I am confident that I will be able to meet the needs of my clients while providing a space for them to feel safe in their mental health journey. My goal is to work with couples, families, and co-parenting clients.

Personal Strengths

Caring

Caring for others is something that has always been important to me. From a young age, I was able to identify when people needed someone they could talk to, or to simply validate the feelings they were having. As a former educator, one of the things that students would notice is that I was always there when they needed a safe place. I pride myself on being the kind of person that people feel comfortable opening up to. It is a privilege to serve in a caring profession.

Driven

When I create goals for myself, I don't take them lightly. If I decide to do something, I put the necessary energy and passion into the task to ensure that it is done correctly, and to a high standard. I enjoy challenges and do not shy away from doing things that may be difficult to achieve success in. My determination to succeed overcomes any setbacks or initial failures in my journey to attain my goals.

Open-Minded

My years as an educator taught me that each person deserves to be accepted and seen, no matter their differences. Everyone has different cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and ways of living. In order to be successful as a mental health therapist, I believe you must be able to be open-minded and put differences aside for the sake of helping others. In addition, I am very open to learning new techniques and methods of therapy as new discoveries are made regarding how the brain works.
